Warp Pipe 0.3.5 Released
The Warp Pipe Team is happy to announce the release of Warp Pipe 0.3.5 for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and BSD. This new release serves as step one of a two step architecture re-write / transition towards our feature-rich version 0.4, which will feature instant messaging, in-application game finder, buddy list, and chat functionality -- among other things.
Warp Pipe 0.3.5 features a uniform user experience across all platforms, and serves as a testament to our commitment to multi-platform support -- providing all Nintendo GameCube gamers the ability to bring their GameCubes online with ease no matter what operating system you may have in the house.
Below is a detailed account of what 0.3.5 has to offer:
- New GUI: A nice, uniform, friendly graphical user interface for Windows, Linux, OS X, and BSD.
- Auto Ping: Once you are connected to someone the GUI will ping the other person so you can see approximately how the game will perform.
- Auto Port Forwarding: Now there is functionality so that you don't have to open ports for the UDP game traffic. This is a step to 0.4. Until then if you want to listen for connections you still have to open port 4000 TCP. This should help individuals with routers.
- Automatic NIC Selection: Now you don't need to select the network card (NIC) that the GameCube is on. Warp Pipe will figure that out for itself.
- Wireless Network Support: If your PC or Mac is wireless, WarpPipe will now work. However, wireless game adapters are not yet officially supported, although some do work. We look forward to supporting wireless game adapters in version 0.4 to allow your GameCube to be connected to your network wirelessly.
- Bug Fixes: Per usual a slew of stuff to make it more compatible and not crash on peoples systems.
As we prioritized our transition to 0.4, we were unable to fit in support for Kirby Air Ride for our 0.3.5 release as it is the LAN-enabled GameCube game that carries with it the least demand from our users. Rest assured, as we complete our transition with version 0.4, it will contain full support for Kirby Air Ride.
For all those who have been with us from the beginning, you may wondered why we broke tradition by not releasing on a holiday. We would like to wish you all a happy Labour Day in Melbourne and a happy Commonwealth Day in the United Kingdom.

DreamHost Donates Application Server
Thanks to the wonderful folks at DreamHost, we now have a new server which will act as both our web server as well as an application server that will handle all matchmaking, chat, and buddylist functionality of our upcoming 0.4 release.
Please bear with us as DNS propagates. There may be some broken functionality here or there. In other news, swift progress is being made on our next release, 0.3.5, which is a very significant upgrade from our current release, 0.3.1. The Warp Pipe team would like to offer an extended thank you to DreamHost, as they have cleared the path for 0.4. Stock up on LAN-enabled GameCube games and practice, the competition is going to be fierce!

Warp Pipe Team Seeks Server Donation
As we move closer to version 0.4, previously codename "1.0" and now codename "megaton" (link for the uninitiated), we are in need of a dedicated server to act as both our new web server and application server which will connect all 0.4 clients and allow for instant messaging, buddy list, and chat functionality.
In order to accomplish this goal, we are in need of a donation of a dedicated linux server (with full root access) collocated at a reputable hosting facility. We have never asked for donations previously and, in fact, have turned down several requests to date. Please note, we are in need of a server and bandwidth only. As much as we appreciate any other donations offered, we will refuse them as we only request and accept items that are truly needed to sustain the project.
Optimally, we are looking for a corporate donor who could donate a leased server to us. If you are interested in helping, please contact us by filling out this form and choose "Server Donation" as the subject.
