Linux Beta Released

The long awaited Linux port is now available for download. This release is compatible with all current releases (Windows Beta 0.3 and Mac Alpha 0.1). You must run it as root, as it operates on the raw socket level.

In other news, development on our next release is coming along nicely. New versions (Windows, Mac, and Linux) will support 1080: Avalanche, which is a really great game despite IGN and Gamespot's opinion. The game, in my opinion, is a must buy if you were a fan of 1080: Snowboarding for N64. If you are on the fence, it is worth a rent to push you over. Enough of my rant, more news as it develops.

Excellent...Now Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Linus Torvalds can play Mario Kart head-to-head and determine who is the greatest nerd EVAR.

Posted by: Craven Moorhead at December 7, 2003 11:48 PM

please do not overlook 1080.

i farted

Posted by: jacob at December 8, 2003 12:06 AM

I agree, 1080 is an excellent game! I like the little details like how the snow sticks to when you're racing or when you crash...not that I have...crashed I mean...*ahem* Lately all the games Gamespot and IGN have been rating crappy or just fair I have been having loads of fun with. Am I weird? You can tell me...I can take it!

Posted by: That One Guy at December 8, 2003 06:08 AM

Nope, you are not weird, they are. Although they are also a bit more wealthy for it also.

"I think you warppipe guyz should suspend the next version-- wait till nintendo releases another LAN game -- than continue. If this sticks than nintendo will stop making LAN game. -- - - - You guys should try to be Nintendo's official online gaming guys or something - or else we wont be seeing online games for a while."

Well MR. Gay, by the way you write, and the way you think its funny to have people refer to you as "Mr. Gay", I can clearly see that you lack intelegence. Im running out of time to piss you off so let me get one of my many F****n points to you. Almost everything listed here will probably be on the next warppipe exept the feature to choose your karts in mario kart--- its the way the game is programed. I know you didn't mean to get anyone mad -- Im' not mad -- but the point of wastin my F****n time, writing to a fagit like you is to get you F****n mad. Go ahead -- try to email me-- I DARE YOU. I like to piss off ammeture little F***s like you. You sound like a brainless 12 year old nerd who found out about this by thinking he was cool by going on a website listed in the latest issue of EGM.

Sincerely,
Go suck on a monkeys nipple.

My little sister says this is showing up in next months issue of EGM.

Reguardless of what the immature kiddies have to say, this project is the most constructive thing I've seen Nintendo fan's do ever. I commend everyone involved in the project for your efforts. Keep up the great work!

Hey, I got one quick question for anyone... Can we expect an even further optimization of how data is transferred? Or have you tapped it out? I know you guys have gotten full speed games going, but I haven't gotten anywhere close and my connection is that bad.

Posted by: Pale at December 8, 2003 09:29 PM

Uhmm...yeah..thast supposed to say "my conection ISN'T that bad".... Rigght..and all those other typos should be fixed too. =P

Posted by: Pale at December 8, 2003 09:30 PM

Can anyone tell me when the Broadband version of Warp Pipe comes out? It'd be cool if you could somehow hack PSO to make free online play. Ehehehehe..(Yes, I realize why this isn't possible.)

Posted by: biocell3 at December 10, 2003 02:26 PM

can you explain to me why some guy went crazy about mr.gay's post.

i come to check comments from time to time and i see ppl always fighting for something

Wow, i think this is really great, you guys are awesome. Dont let the lamers put you down either, also, will Warp Pipe be supporting Pikmin 2 when that comes out, cause that would be AWESOME!

Posted by: Joedi at December 10, 2003 11:11 PM

Awesome, really cool that you're going to let the geekiest of us in on the action. However, I get segmentation faults, well, all the time. It starts up great, i nmap myself and it's listening on port 4000, but after around 5 seconds I get a segmentation fault and warppipe dies.

Posted by: Piggy at December 11, 2003 09:05 AM

thanks for all the effort you guys have put in. really. me and my mates were gutted when we found out MK:DD wasn't going to support online play (we're all at different uni's spread across the country and didn't want that to stop us reliving the good old days of mk64) but thanks to you guys we'll be able to now.

you should really put a donation thing up here. i would definately give you a few quid every other (linux) release.

Posted by: sleepeasy at December 11, 2003 06:54 PM

Too bad i allready bought SSX3 which critics said too be much better and bigger than 1080: Avalanche. I never played the game so i can't say.
Furthermore i want to say that i think it's great what you people are doing! I'll have my hub soon so i can finally kick some online ass!
Thankz!
