We are happy to announce the launch of Warp Pipe 0.3 Beta for Windows. First and foremost, special thanks go out to the rest of the Warp Pipe team:

Matthew Herberg (Macintosh GUI Developer)

Warp Pipe beta allows both Kirby Air Ride and Mario Kart: Double Dash!! to play online. We are also very proud to announce that our latest version supports region free play, which means any Mario Kart: Double Dash (JPN, US, or PAL) can play with the other. The same goes for Kirby Air Ride.

Look for Warp Pipe Beta for Macintosh to launch within a week.

Posted by: N-Freak at November 27, 2003 09:58 AM

hm, i did not have any problems establishing a connection, but mario kart ran really slow... something about half speed (2 players, germany, dsl with 16 kb upload each player, one of us had no fastpath). i don't know if this is lag or a bug, the game did not stotter or disconnect, all graphics just ran slow, while the music played normally.

Posted by: Kezo at November 27, 2003 12:48 PM

Geniuses, that's what you guys are!!!! Thx ever so much for all your hard work. Respect to all of you at Warp Pipe. I just hope that Nintendo notices this. Something amazing could come out of it for u guys.

What about the Linux version?

Posted by: Tux at November 27, 2003 02:28 PM

Linux is not supported anymore. You can get the sources for the 0.1.3 version still at sourceforge

Posted by: at November 27, 2003 03:17 PM

Oh yeah! That's what i'm talkin' bout! Mario Kart online is a dream come true! You guys ROCK!!!

Posted by: at November 27, 2003 04:15 PM

Rock On! Now I just need to find somebody to play against....

Posted by: T-Money at November 27, 2003 08:03 PM

Wow.. so now we can play mario kart online? OH YEAH.. i gotta try this when i all the stuff needed.

Posted by: Anthony at November 27, 2003 09:00 PM

I bought a broadband adapter specifically for Mario Kart and F-Zero, but Nintendo dashed my hopes by killing the lan play in F-Zero. The only reason I'm keeping my Gamecube is because of this project and what it can do to help fix the problems caused by Nintendo's ignorance, arrogance, and shortsightedness. Mad props, people. You're doing a great service to the world of gaming.

Posted by: Raijin Z at November 28, 2003 03:46 AM

Toll, endlich kann man mit anderen im Netz spielen!

Posted by: MKDD at November 28, 2003 05:54 AM

Hmm.. seems that since Linux is not supported I have to code my own from your sources. Let's see how you can handle little competition ;)

Why is there no Linux version anymore? Just when I finally got a computer all to myself to install Linux on...

Posted by: Satoshi at November 28, 2003 08:52 PM

Linux is coming along with OS X.

Posted by: Chad at November 28, 2003 10:57 PM

Why is there no win98 version?

Posted by: hello at November 29, 2003 05:24 AM

It works! It works and even though I knew it was going to work, I was still laughing like a schoolgirl during the first race with my buddy across town. It was magic, even though the technology is simple to understand. Good job, thanks for this fantastic tool!

Posted by: Ray Greenwell at November 29, 2003 11:40 AM

Can someone help me? I have a NETGEAR wireless router and a wireless usb network card. It seems like i'm having trouble connecting to warppipe beta 0.3. Do i really have to do all that "port 4000 forwarding" Can someone please help me?

Posted by: JP at November 29, 2003 01:30 PM

Wow, can't wait till the mac os x version. Now when it comes true, I will give my buddy a network adaptor for his cube for xmas, so we can play against each other. He is in Winnipeg and I'm in Calgary. That's in Canada for those unknowing.

Posted by: Michael De Jong at November 29, 2003 11:38 PM

I'm also a Mac user, and haven't been able to try out this ambitious software. So can you play against only one other person online, or can you organize a larger online game? Also, can my buddy and I play co-op against another person online? Or is it strictly 1 human vs 1 human? If that's the case, do you (warp pipe team) plan on upgrading the software to allow more than two people to play online? Thanks! And great work!

Posted by: Uncle Peppi at November 30, 2003 12:18 AM

This is awesome- I cant wait for the mac os x version so i can use it

Posted by: at November 30, 2003 04:19 PM

great job guys, keep it up, when will 1.0 come out so that there will be lobbies, and more than 2 player support? but i cant thank you guys enough, you will extend the one player by weeks or months

Posted by: Chris at November 30, 2003 05:07 PM

Yeah, is there anyway to get around having to forward a port? Not that i don't know how to, its just my dad won't let me, for no reason at all..

Posted by: OS at November 30, 2003 05:18 PM

need peoples' ip address. So that we can start playing Mario Kart. My ip address is 66.57.76.237 Hit me back if yall wants to play!

Posted by: JMP at November 30, 2003 07:48 PM

Can someone help me with NETGEAR wireless router port forwarding? i think i got it but.. any other details i should know about?

Thanks

Posted by: JMP at November 30, 2003 09:32 PM

I would also like to add my thanks to the makers of Warppipe.

I have managed to get it to work with no hiccups what so ever. I have played many games with a friend who lives over 100 miles away with zero lag. We also use TeamSpeak voice comm software while playing so that we can chat while driving. It works like a dream.

Well done!

Just as a side note I'm the UK so for those of you who may be wondering if Warppipe works in Europe, it does :)

Posted by: Kropotkin at December 1, 2003 07:01 AM

Hey, I love the software but I wanted to make one quick suggestion. Would it be that difficult to incorporate dns lookups so those of us with domains could just give them to people instead of the ip? It would be a handy thing that i don't *think* would be difficult to implement...

Posted by: Pale at December 1, 2003 05:43 PM

awww yeaaaah, bring on the OS X version and keep up the excellent work!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: kerus at December 1, 2003 08:54 PM

Seems like there's a lot of Mac OS X users looking for this project to succeed. Might it be that Apple and Nintendo need to strike another partnership?

On second thought, thinking back to Mario Teaches Typing, that might not be the best idea, but I'm guessing most Apple users haven't splurged for that XBox yet. Anyway, go WP, we're with you all the way!

Woop woop woop! (that's the warp pipe noise.. you know... ah, nevermind...)

"Seems like there's a lot of Mac OS X users looking for this project to succeed. Might it be that Apple and Nintendo need to strike another partnership?"

I remember hearing rumors about this partnership, but I didn't know anything came to fruition. It's no secret that Apple and Nintendo are very, very similar companies. Both are the innovators of their respective industries, and get ideas ripped off of them left and right. Not to mention the very loyal fanbase each has. Apple and Nintendo are amazing companies, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Posted by: Uncle Peppi at December 2, 2003 03:08 AM

Yeah, there are a fair amount of Mac users waiting for the OS X release(me included). I've noticed the Apple and Nintendo connection too. They bost make rock solid products that you don't have to worry about buying because you know they will work and totally crush anything the competition has released, though they are often late getting to the party.

Nintendo has to thank you guys. I bet they've never seen such a flux in broadband adaptor sales.

Posted by: wedge b at December 2, 2003 10:35 AM

great job fellas i finaly played but i was going to have a party and have 3 friends over and i was wondering if a total of 4 people from my place can vs. like 4 from another place if not u gus need to fix that for your next update

Posted by: Devil Dan-o at December 2, 2003 11:03 AM

is a linux suport planned?

Posted by: phobos at December 2, 2003 11:53 AM

I'm all about this... I can't wait for the MacOSX version to be released... there are more and more gamers on macs these days... don't forget about us!!

Posted by: Martin Defatte at December 2, 2003 03:15 PM

Hmm... so is this just OSX thats comin out? I'm still running 9.2 and I wont likely get 10 tillI get a new computer (seems like a waste to use it on my old iMac G3).

Posted by: Logan at December 2, 2003 03:50 PM

Martin, I doubt they will make a Classic version, though maybe it might run if you have the most recent carbon lib installed. I know when I was running os 9 I could run the odd OSX software with that installed.

Posted by: wedge at December 3, 2003 09:16 AM

hey, great job guys with finally getting cube online! i thought the day would never come! however i have a query. mario kart seems to run slow, like at half speed slow for me. and i played someone with a cable connection that was less than 200 miles away. i also have a netgear for a router. now i hear people playin other people at like full speed when its 3 times the distance away with a different service called comcast. is it just the service (i.e. road runner, comcast, etc.) or something else? an answer for this would be much appreciated thanx

Posted by: John at December 3, 2003 09:24 AM

Good work team! im so excited for this, now im for sure going to buy a modem apapter because u guys brought all of these GC games online, one question though, can I work the program with Windows ME?

Thanks a bunch keep up the good work!!!
