We are about to solidify the development team for the first software push. We are in need of the following:
Senior Network Programmers
Linux GUI Programmers
Senior C/C++ Programmers
We are also possibly in need of a strong MFC / VC++ Windows GUI programmer. Planning is on the verge of wrapping up and development will take place shortly after. If you are interested, please join SourceForge and apply on our SourceForge Project Page.
We look forward to this challenge, as many have noted and stated in comment posts, Japanese gamers are attempting a similiar project. Since releasing my specification I've learned that they have improved their software, yet they still haven't fully tweaked it. I fully beleive that our team will accomplish and develop the most robust, lightweight application in this space and we will strive to be successful. We have alot of things working against us, (most developers don't have a BBA, Kirby is a JPN release until October, etc), but we come through for all the gamers who want their LAN enabled GameCube software online.
I look forward to keeping all who are interested up to speed.
Posted by Chad at July 24, 2003 03:48 AMIs there any way you could work with this other group and share some ideas? I would think that it would result in the best possible solution. Then again maybe a little competition will inspire both sides to work a little harder.
Posted by: mattcoz at July 24, 2003 09:29 AMAre you guys going to need any test subjects? I've got a Japanese GameCube and a Broadband Adapter, and would be more than happy to import Kirby if need be.
Posted by: Nathan at July 24, 2003 10:57 AMI, too, would be interested in being a guinea pig of sorts. I have a Gamecube, and a Broadband Adapter. All I'd need to get would be Kirby and a FreeLoader.
Posted by: Satoshi at July 24, 2003 07:48 PMI, as previously stated by two other people, have no programming skills but have a BBA and freeloader so I am more than willing to be a proverbial guinea pig. I live in the UK so maybe a chance to test the program overseas. I too am willing to import the necessary games to aid with this intreaguing project.

Posted by: raoh at July 25, 2003 12:01 PMwhat is the possibility of this project enabling GameCube LAN based games to be played over the internet? Is it reasonable to expect something close to full frame rate? or is that is impossible?
Posted by: Joel at July 25, 2003 01:35 PMWell the Japanese project already has it running at full framerate, so the possibilty is quite good. :)
Posted by: mattcoz at July 25, 2003 03:00 PMI can help you guys do some C programming, but I'm still in school so my time commitment might fluctuate...e-mail me if you need a bunch of code-monkeys to do some secondary programming work.
Posted by: charlie at July 26, 2003 04:55 AMChad, I suggest you to use "wxWindows" since most of the projects thought it's a perfect choice. You write a GUI once and you don't need to create separate versions for Linux, Windows, BeOS, Apple, etc. And use some cross-platform environment with portable code. That way you'll end with cross-platform release very soon. There's mingw and cygwin under Windows so basically any "fine" (standard) code from *nix can be compiled under Windows, BeOS, whatever.
Think twice :)
